RENEWAL OF WORK PERMIT FOR PERSON ABOVE 60 IN KUWAIT, GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES NOT INCLUDED

Kuwait City: Renewal of work permit for non-university graduates above 60 years of age is in the private sector only in Kuwait. A local newspaper quoted government sources as saying that the decision was taken not to renew the work permits of government employees belonging to this category.


The Statistics Administration estimates that about 6,000 people over the age of 60 are employed in the government sector. 1,800 were over 65 years of age. The retirement age in the government sector is 65 years. In some areas it is 75 years old.

According to sources, the annual fee of 2,000 dinars will be levied on those over 60 years of age, but only in the private sector. Sources said that work permits have not been issued to government employees.
