INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT INDIAN EMBASSY

Kuwait City: The 75th Independence Day of India was duly observed at the Indian Embassy despite the Covid restrictions. At 8 am, Indian Ambassador Sibi George hoisted the flag and started the celebrations. The Ambassador read out the Independence Day message of the President. The Ambassador thanked the Emir of Kuwait, the Crown Prince and the Government for their outstanding support in ensuring the welfare of the one million Indians in Kuwait. The Government of Kuwait has given due consideration to the welfare of Indians and the improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries during this period of testing.


The Ambassador thanked the Health Front fighters who had been at the forefront of Covid prevention activities and was able to provide assistance of Rs 1 lakh to 65 families who died due to Covid in Kuwait. In collaboration with the Indian Community Support Group, assistance is provided to those earning less than 120 dinars.

In the context of the corona the public did not have the opportunity to participate. Only Indian Embassy officials and staff attended the ceremony. Thousands of expatriates watched the event live on the embassy's social media account. Earlier, Ambassador Sibi George had requested everyone to sit at home and watch live streaming and be a part of the celebration without coming to the embassy. The video of the school students singing patriotic songs was shown online. An evening musical evening has also been organized as part of the National Day celebrations. Live streaming of the event will be available on the Facebook page and Twitter, officials said.

Ambassador planted a tree at Indian House to protect the environment. "It is everyone's responsibility to protect the environment and the importance of the environment is highlighted in the President's Independence Day message," Sibi George said. The Ambassador reminded that the present generation has a responsibility to free future generations from air pollution and all should do their best to protect the environment.

Various events are being organized by the Embassy in connection with the Independence Day celebrations. The ambassador flagged off the week - long bus promotion campaign to mark the 75th Independence Day of India and the 60th anniversary of India - Kuwait diplomatic relations. Many people are posting photos on social media from a special photo booth set up for embassy visitors. Kuwait also took an active part in the 'Asadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' organized by the Union Ministry of Culture. The ceremony at the Embassy was attended by embassy officials and a limited number of invited Indian social activists.
