DECREASE IN FOREIGN PAYMENT IN KUWAIT

  • 21/09/2021

Kuwait City: Central Bank of Kuwait says expatriate payments are down in the wake of the covid crisis. Remittances from foreign countries fell by 7.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2021, released yesterday. Foreign workers sent 1.47 billion dinars in the first quarter of 2020, down from 1.36 billion dinars in 2021. The decline in the number of expatriates in the country and the corona crisis have led to a significant decline in remittances from foreigners. An earlier report by the National Bank of Kuwait stated that 190,000 expatriates had left the country during the covid period alone. According to economists, the remittance crisis created by Kovid-19 in the country will lead to an increase in personal remittances.
