Kuwait City: Confusion over visa renewal for expatriates over 60 years of age in the country has not been resolved. Earlier, it was reported that the proposal was not being considered by the Commerce and Industry Minister and was awaiting a decision.

After the decision not to renew the permits of 60-year-old expatriates, the Public Authority for Civil Information reported that more than 42,000 foreign workers left the private sector in Kuwait in the first half of 2021.This includes many professional workers, including doctors, some of whom have reportedly emigrated.

Earlier, Kuwaiti authorities had decided to charge a higher fee for renewing visas for expatriates over the age of 60 who do not have a high school education qualification. Those who work for higher and lower salaries due to lack of education are more likely to be paid higher fees than those with lower salaries. Earlier, members of parliament had said it was impractical to renew the permit. It was decided to give effect to the age limit from last January.
