Dubai: Residents of Dubai who use the roads are exhaling a sigh of relief after at least four new road projects were completed, easing traffic snarls at several key junctures throughout the city.

Since 2006, the emirate has spent over Dh140 billion on road and transportation infrastructure improvements.

Over the last 15 years, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has made significant infrastructure improvements in the emirate.

"The length of the road network increased from 8,715 lane-kilometres in 2006 to 18,255 lane-kilometres in 2020," said Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the RTA's board of executive directors.
