Kuwait City: According to a new study, divorce ruins men's health more than women's, noting that a man's living alone after divorce leads to ill health, which leads to early mortality.

The study, done at Denmark's University of Copenhagen and published in the "Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health," found that males who lived alone for more than seven years after a divorce had greater levels of inflammation in their bodies.

This stress-related biochemical reaction has been linked to premature death, atherosclerosis, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and dementia.

Nearly a 25-year span, the study included over 4,800 persons between the ages of 48 and 62 followed divorces, separations, and how long men lived alone.
