Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has modified its safety protocols for anyone who test positive for Covid-19 or are in close contact with someone who has the virus.

The new regulations, issued by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis, and Disasters Committee in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, are part of efforts to "guard the public's health and safety."

People with Covid-19 who are in high-risk categories – those aged 50 and up, who have symptoms, are pregnant, or have a chronic illness – must visit a designated Covid-19 Prime Assessment Centre for assessment and isolation measures, according to the rules.

To be released from isolation, they must have two negative PCR findings 24 hours apart or do a PCR test on days 8 and 10 and complete 10 days in isolation with no symptoms appearing in the final three days of quarantine, as determined by medical assessment.

Authorities also defined measures for people who have mild to severe symptoms or do not have chronic conditions. They must retest in any health facility in the emirate while continuing to isolate in this case.

If the test results are positive, the patient will be called by a professional and instructed to follow isolation requirements.

In order to be released from isolation, patients in these groups must also have two negative PCR tests within 24 hours. They are, however, recommended to continue taking preventive precautions until they resume normal activity.
