RELIEF FOR EXPATRIATES, COVID TEST ONLY IF SYMPTOMATIC, QUARANTINE ONLY FOR THOSE WITH SYMPTOMS

The government has suggested that expatriates and international travelers returning home should only be screened for Covid symptoms. The decision was taken at the Covid review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Contact ban is required only for those with symptoms. The meeting approved the recommendation of the Health Experts Committee to change the current norm of doing so. Tests at airports, including rapid tests, should not be charged unfairly. Expatriates should be charged only what they can afford. The Chief Minister directed the Health Department to take necessary action in this regard.

A unified standard will be adopted in the number of admissions to all places of worship. A maximum of 20 people will be allowed. This also applies to the restricted Sunday, February 6th. 200 people will be allowed in the temple premises for Attukal Pongala. This year too, Pongala should be restricted to households.
