RUSSIAN FORCES SEIZE CONTROL OF A VITAL PORT CITY AND MOVE TO ENCIRCLE OTHERS

On Wednesday, the Russian invasion of Ukraine took a devastating toll on civilians, as residential areas were blasted and important cities were besieged. The Russian military claimed control of Kherson, a strategically vital port city close to Crimea.

Russian forces looked to be encircling major cities such as Kharkiv and the port of Mariupol. Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, referred to his country as a "symbol of invincibility."
