Kuwait City:  Precautionary measures taken by health officials in 2021 reduced Kuwait's chocolate consumption by 41 percent. Earlier, Kuwait was the largest consumer of chocolate in the region at a rate of three kilograms per person per year. Events such as weddings, receptions and various other social events, which saw an increase in the use of chocolate, declined in 2021, leading to a decline in consumption.

In the last nine months of 2021, Kuwait imported a total of 23.5 million dinars worth of chocolate, according to official figures. During the same period in 2020, Kuwait imported 40 million dinars worth of chocolates. Consumption rates are expected to return to normal in the near future as everyone returns to normal life after the Covid epidemic and lifts restrictions on social activities that have been in place for months.
