Kuwait City: There are tens of thousands of polygamists in Kuwait, according to official figures. According to the latest figures from the Sharia Documentation Division of the Ministry of Justice, there are more than 11,000 men in the country with two wives. In addition, 700 people have three wives. However, there are only 94 Kuwaitis with four wives. According to religious law, up to four wives are allowed.


Fahad al-Dain, director of the Sharia documentation division, said the couple could face a number of fate issues in the first five years after marriage. You need to be prepared to compromise during this period. At the same time, he added, there has been an increase in marriages between Kuwaitis by 2021. According to the Ministry of Marriage Registration, 11,363 couples got married last year, an increase of 16.5 percent over the previous year.
