KUWAIT POLICE ALLOWED TO USE PEPPER SPRAY

Kuwait City: Maj. Gen. Faraj al-Soubi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Interior for the Public Security Sector, has given the police permission to use pepper spray. The order states that pepper spray can be used against any attempt to attack themselves and others. The decision comes as part of a drive to empower the police to ensure the rule of law, security and public order. 


The decision stipulates that police officers of public safety rank have the right to use a pepper spray device against any attempt to attack themselves or others. Specific instructions are given not to abuse the pepper spray, and to warn the offender before using it, to avoid spraying if he is willing to surrender, and not to use it in a life-threatening manner.
