STRICT PUNISHMENT FOR STEALING PASSENGERS LUGGAGE ; SAUDI PROSECUTION WITH WARNING

Riyadh:  Saudi authorities have issued a warning to passengers against stealing luggage from a passenger . Five years in prison and a fine of up to five lakh dirhams (one crore Indian rupees) if found guilty of stealing any of the plane's or other passengers' belongings.


Under Section 154 of the Civil Aviation Act of Saudi Arabia, it is a felony to steal the luggage of a passenger or a plane. The prosecution said in a statement that it would have to take legal action, including arrest. 

Such offenses are punishable under Section 167 of the Saudi Civil Aviation Act. The penalty is imprisonment for not more than five years and a fine of up to five lakh riyals. Defendants face both imprisonment and fines.
