Kuwait City: Engr. Saad Al-Otaibi, Deputy Director-General for Planning and Projects Affairs and official spokesman for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), said that 3,484 aircraft will transport more than 500,000 passengers over the Eid al-Adha celebrations. Eng. Al-Otaibi noted in a press statement published during a tour of Kuwait International Airport that passenger traffic climbed during the Eid holidays, reaching 542,161 passengers, up from 592,790 passengers in 2019.

Kuwaiti pilgrims wait in line at the airport to enter the immigration hall before departing for Saudi Arabia's Holy Lands to undertake the Hajj ceremonies. The annual Hajj is expected to take place on July 8, Friday. Thousands of Kuwaitis are leaving their country by road and air.

Approximately 3,484 round-trip flights will be conducted during the holidays this year, compared to 3,713 flights in 2019. Travel demand has begun to return to pre-COVID-19 levels, particularly during the current summer season.

The Cabinet's decision to strengthen travel restrictions, which went into effect on May 1, aided the high rate of travel demand and the sluggish but progressive recovery of Kuwait's air transportation sector. The addition of additional destinations for Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways resulted in an increase in passenger traffic to and from Kuwait International Airport. During the Eid al-Adha holidays, 1,747 departure flights carrying approximately 25,706 passengers and 1,737 arrival flights carrying 28,555 passengers will be operated, according to Engr. Al-Otaibi.
