UAE STRENGTHENED MEASURES IN DRUG CASES

Dubai: UAE has stepped up measures in drug cases. The punishment is a fine of at least 50,000 dirhams (more than Rs. 10.8 lakh) and imprisonment. Imprisonment and fines will increase depending on the seriousness of the case.


The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department stated that it is a very serious crime to invest money in drug transactions, receive, transfer or send money through someone else, try to influence or otherwise gain an advantage.

Action has also been intensified against gangs that promote and sell drugs online. More than 100 people were arrested this year. With the rise of texting, even to young children, surveillance has intensified. Their method is to deliver drugs to the needy by sending voice messages and fixing the time and place.

Do not ignore the message or block the number and report to the police immediately. Awareness against drug addiction will be intensified in the country. Seminars will be held in educational centers and shopping malls. Documentaries will be screened.
