BLAST ROCK RUSSIAN AIRBASE IN SEIZED CRIMEA DURING UKRAINE WAR

According to the president of the Russian-appointed regional government, one person was killed after bombings at a military base in Crimea. The bombings, according to Sergei Aksyonov, took occurred at the Saky military base near Novofedorivka on the peninsula's western coast.

Multiple explosions were seen in footage circulated on social media. The Russian defense ministry later claimed that munitions had been detonated, but this has yet to be independently verified.

According to Russia's state-run Ria news agency, the ministry stated that there was no "fire impact" on the ammo storage location. The Ukrainian peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014, is a favourite vacation destination for Russians, and one video showed holidaymakers fleeing from a beach as smoke rose in the backdrop.
