US TO EASE IRANIAN INTERNET RESTRICTIONS IN RESPONSE TO PROTECTS THERE

As a response to Tehran's crackdown on protests that were started by a woman dying in police custody, the US says it will relax internet restrictions for Iran.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated, "We are going to help make sure that the Iranian people are not kept in the dark and isolated."

The easing of software restrictions will enable American tech companies to increase their clientele in Iran.

The worst unrest Iran has seen in years has claimed at least 35 lives.

Last week, Mahsa Amini, 22, went into a coma just hours after morality police detained her for allegedly violating the prohibition on wearing a headscarf. Officers reportedly beat Ms Amini's head with a baton and banged her head against one of their vehicles. The police have said there is no evidence of any mistreatment and that she suffered "sudden heart failure".

Anti-government protests continued for an eight straight night on Friday, while pro-regime rallies also took place in Tehran and other cities.
