Kuwait City, Jan 21: The first group of the stranded Filipino domestic employees has returned home, according to reliable sources, Al-Rai daily reported. The Undersecretary of the Philippines' Department of Migrant Workers Hans Leo Cacdac who visited Kuwait with the Head of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Arnaldo Arevalo 'Arnell' Ignacio by order of the Minister of Labor Susan Ople, confirmed that there are 421 Filipino workers in the government shelter in Kuwait.

When Cacdac returned to Philippines on Tuesday, he brought about 38 employees with him. When Ignacio returns, he will be joined by about 100 workers. The remaining employees will be split into two groups and sent on their way. Given the recent rise in the number of workers seeking asylum in the country's embassy, it is planned to investigate the possibility of establishing a second shelter for workers in Kuwait.
