Shelter for Filipino women receives 10 to 20 workers daily

Kuwait City, March 23: While the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Kuwait, Jose Almodóvar Cabrera III, confirmed that work at the new embassy headquarters in the suburb of Sabah Al-Salem will start before the end of next April. The Acting Labor Consul Cathy Doladol revealed that 1022 Filipino domestic workers have been returned to the Philippines as of January the past, and that there is more waiting for their legal documents to be processed in preparation for their return.

She indicated that more than 637 domestic workers coming from the shelter and deportation department in Kuwait have left since the beginning of this March. There are 329 female workers in the shelter and 10 to 20 domestic workers are received at the shelter on a daily basis.
