London lit up for Ramadan for first time

London: The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, switched on the Ramadan lights for the first time in Piccadilly Circus in the British capital. Khan is one of the 1.3 million Muslims in London celebrating Ramadan, according to the 'Guardian'. The initiative was spearheaded by the non-profit organization Ramadan Lights UK, who raised funds for the show through public donations.

This is the first time that a European city has witnessed such a grand show, with 30,000 lights lit and satellites depicting the phases of the moon throughout the month of Ramadan.
