Over 79 migrants died after an overcrowded ship capsized in the coast of Greece. Early on Wednesday, one of Europe's deadliest recent shipping disasters occurred, and search and rescue efforts were under way to locate survivors.

By noon, 104 people had been saved, and it was known that the boat had left Libya. Around 750 people, as reported by a European rescue-support organization, compared to up to 400 according to the UN's migration agency. The majority of the migrants on board were thought to be from Pakistan, Syria, and Egypt.
