Nobel Peace Prize 2023 awarded to Iranian rights worker

Narges Mohammadi, an imprisoned Iranian human rights worker, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2023. The Norwegian Nobel Committee declared the award on Wednesday. The 51-year-old human rights activist is serving a sentence of 10 years in Iran's Evin prison, in the capital of Tehran. Mohammadi was recognised by the Nobel Committee for her efforts to combat the oppression against women in Iran.
