Kuwait's Emir, the 86 year old Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, died on Saturday. He had been hospitalized in late November following a medical emergency. Prior to this, it was stated that he had traveled to the United States for medical examinations.
Born on 25 June 1937, he succeeded the Emir of Kuwait on 29 September 2020, following the death of his half-brother Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah. Sheikh Nawaf has previously held positions as the interior and defense minister of Kuwait and he had decades of experience in the socio-political arena. The people of Kuwait have lost their beloved leader.
