The General Directorate of Traffic has announced that all categories of driving licenses are now available in digital format via the Ministry of Interior’s application. However, Al-Rai newspaper has reported that these digital licenses are exclusively for expatriates.
The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector communicated through its official account on the ‘X’ platform that, in alignment with the Ministry of Interior’s digitization initiative led by the General Directorate of Traffic, the issuance of physical driving licenses—including fare, demand fare, driving coach, public bus, mobile fare, and individual driving coach—has been ceased in favor of the digital alternatives provided through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) app. A security source clarified to the newspaper that these digital licenses are intended solely for expatriates, while truck drivers, who require travel outside of Kuwait as part of their duties, are allowed to retain physical driving licenses and permits due to the specific demands of their profession.
