The Rapid Emergency Response Team from the Radiation Protection Department of the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the General Administration of Civil Defense and the Gulf Cooperation Council Center for Emergency Management, participated in the mock exercise organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency at the invitation of the Agency’s Emergency Center, in the presence of leaders from the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Health said that the exercise (ConvEx-2c) aims to test emergency response arrangements related to transnational nuclear weapons or radiation accidents. It is designed to test the capabilities of competent authorities and national personnel in dealing with such events within the international scale of nuclear and radiological events, as this type of exercise is held periodically.
