Kuwaiti Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi highlighted on Thursday the "exceptional" advancements made by Kuwait in the fight against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), as noted by the Joint UN Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), which recognizes Kuwait as a leader in the Arab region. This statement was delivered on behalf of the minister by the Ministry's Undersecretary Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi during the opening of the two-day Kuwait National Conference for AIDS on Wednesday. The report indicates that Kuwait has successfully met the 90/90/90 targets, signifying that 90 percent of individuals living with HIV are aware of their status, 90 percent of those diagnosed are receiving treatment, and 90 percent of those undergoing treatment have an undetectable viral load.
