Kuwait to Introduce Transit Visas to Boost Tourism and Economy

  • 10/03/2025

Following the success of the “Khaleeji Zain 26” Championship and its positive impact on tourism, Kuwait is taking steps to introduce transit visas for travelers passing through the country. According to informed sources, these short-term visas will be issued exclusively through Kuwait’s national airlines and must be obtained before arrival. They will not be renewable. With Kuwait serving as a key transit point between Europe and Asia, the initiative is expected to attract more visitors, especially with the recent opening of Terminal 2 at Kuwait International Airport.

The introduction of transit visas aligns with Kuwait’s broader strategy to diversify its economy and promote tourism as a key sector. By facilitating short-term stays for international travelers, the country aims to encourage tourism-related spending, boost hospitality and retail industries, and enhance its global connectivity. Officials believe this move will not only strengthen Kuwait’s position as a major transit hub but also create new opportunities for economic growth and international partnerships in the aviation and tourism sectors.
