Public Parks: A Family Haven During Eid Holidays

With milder temperatures, public parks have become a top destination for families during the Eid holiday, offering a refreshing escape with natural surroundings and spacious areas for children.

A tour across several parks in the country revealed a remarkable turnout, with Al-Shaheed Park attracting the largest number of visitors, thanks to its stunning fireworks display.

In Rumaithiya, engineer Khaled Al Banani, a father of five, highlighted the affordability of public parks compared to malls and restaurants. “We can bring our own food, let the kids play freely, and enjoy quality time without high expenses,” he said.

Families also used the parks for group meals, with Abu Muhammad Al-Hawrani explaining that parks provide a perfect setting for large gatherings that residential apartments cannot accommodate. "Each family prepares a dish, the children play, and we enjoy a stress-free environment," he said, emphasizing their commitment to keeping the park clean.

For Umm Youssef, celebrating her son’s birthday at the park with his schoolmates was an ideal choice. “Instead of spending hundreds of dinars at a restaurant, we celebrate here in nature,” she said.

Umm Nawaf, a mother of three at Salwa Park, praised parks for offering screen-free bonding time with family but hoped for repairs to broken play equipment. She also called for better supervision to ensure children's safety, particularly regarding dogs in the park.

Despite the popularity of public parks, some families noted areas for improvement. Umm Abdullah suggested better facilities, such as improved restrooms, shaded areas, and more play zones for children.

At Martyr’s Park, sports trainer Abu Yousef emphasized the health benefits of parks beyond entertainment. “They relieve stress, promote social interaction, and provide a space for children to exercise and play freely,” he said after bringing his kids to enjoy the fireworks.
