Colonel Fahd Al-Essa, Director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the General Traffic Department, announced the official rollout of the new traffic testing vehicle system across all six governorates. The initiative, managed by the Education Sector, follows the awarding of the vehicle system tender to Super Service Company.
Al-Essa highlighted that the newly introduced vehicles mark a significant technological advancement compared to the previously rented cars from education companies. The new testing vehicles come equipped with advanced cameras installed in all corners, allowing for full documentation of the driving test and facilitating the review process in case of objections.
These vehicles also feature an internal microphone connected to a wireless device, allowing real-time communication between the examiner and the examinee. The examiner, located in a separate office or designated area, guides the examinee throughout the test using this system.
The upgrade aims to improve safety and efficiency, reducing the risks testers previously faced on the ground, especially during adverse weather. The new system also prevents traffic accidents, which were a common occurrence with the older methods.
The company has set up well-equipped waiting lounges within the testing departments to provide comfort for examinees. Test takers will no longer be allowed to use their own vehicles for the test, except for individuals with special needs who are permitted by law due to the specific design of their vehicles.
The pricing for test vehicles—covering categories such as private, public, construction, and motorcycles—has also been standardized in collaboration with the General Traffic Department.
