Among the deceased are prominent figures including a popular Dominican singer, a provincial governor, and former Major League Baseball (MLB) player Octavio Dotel.

Emergency teams continued to work tirelessly at the site, removing debris and searching for survivors. Presidential spokesperson Homero Figueroa stated that heavy machinery was being used to accelerate rescue efforts.

The incident occurred during a concert by Dominican singer Rubby Perez, who was among those killed, as confirmed by his family and manager.

Also among the victims was Nelsy Cruz, governor of the northern Monte Cristi province and sister of MLB All-Star Nelson Cruz, as confirmed by President Luis Abinader. Former MLB players Tony Blanco and Octavio Dotel also lost their lives in the collapse. Dotel, 51, died en route to the hospital after being rescued from the rubble.

Dotel, who had a long MLB career spanning over a dozen teams, debuted with the New York Mets in 1999 and retired in 2013. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza expressed his condolences, stating, "We have a lot of the Dominican community in the baseball world."
