A horrific murder-suicide has shocked the Indian expatriate community in Kuwait, after a Kerala-born nurse allegedly killed his wife and then took his own life at their residence in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
The tragedy unfolded when Farwaniya security personnel, acting on a tip-off, entered the couple's locked apartment to find a gruesome crime scene. The lifeless body of a woman with her veins slit was discovered first, with blood stains marking the hallway. A second body, believed to be her husband, was later found in the apartment, reportedly dead by suicide.
The victims were identified as Suraj Kuzhiyath John (39) from Naduvil in Kannur and Bincy (35) from Keezhillam near Perumbavoor, Ernakulam. Suraj worked as a nurse at the Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Health Center, while Bincy was employed under Kuwait's Ministry of Defence.
The couple had returned from a trip to Kerala just two days earlier, where they had spent Easter with their families. Their two children — a 9-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son — remained in India as the couple was preparing for a move to Australia.
Neighbors reported hearing a violent argument followed by the woman’s cries for help, but fear kept them from intervening.
Authorities have launched a full investigation, with forensic teams collecting evidence and the Public Prosecutor overseeing the case. The motive behind the incident remains unclear, and the bodies have been sent for further examination.
The tragedy has left the community in shock and raised urgent questions about mental health, domestic violence, and the unseen struggles within expatriate lives.
