Kuwait to Witness Series of Astronomical Events in May 2025

Kuwait City: The Al-Ajari Scientific Center confirmed that May 2025 will bring a series of notable astronomical events to the skies over Kuwait, starting on Sunday, May 4, with a conjunction of the Moon and the planet Mars.

According to a statement given to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Delta Aquarid meteor shower will be visible on Monday and Tuesday nights, best observed from Kuwait City after 1:22 am, when its radiant point rises above the eastern horizon.

On May 11, the Moon will reach apogee — the farthest point in its orbit from Earth — appearing slightly smaller than usual. This will be followed by the appearance of the full "Flower Moon" on May 12, a name referencing the springtime bloom in the Northern Hemisphere.

The center added that on May 22, the Moon will appear in conjunction with Saturn, coming within 28.2 degrees of the planet. Then on May 24, the Moon will align with Venus, passing 29.3 degrees north of it.

The new Moon will occur on May 27, during which the Sun and Moon will be aligned with Earth on the opposite side. Finally, on May 28, the Moon will align with Jupiter, passing 12.5 degrees north of the planet. By that time, the Moon will be just one day old.

The center encourages astronomy enthusiasts in Kuwait to observe these rare celestial alignments throughout the month.
