The Civil Service Commission has temporarily suspended the appointment of new non-Kuwaiti teachers to the Ministry of Education as the current school year approaches its end. The suspension will remain until the Civil Service Board approves the job requirements plan and nominates qualified Kuwaiti candidates registered in the central employment system to fill teaching positions based on the ministry’s needs.
In a related move, the Ministry of Education is set to terminate the services of 60 expatriate employees, including teachers and administrators, who have reached the maximum legal service period of 34 years. An administrative inventory revealed 55 expatriate teachers across elementary, middle, and secondary schools, along with five administrators, who have completed their statutory service.
The ministry plans to end the services of these non-Kuwaiti teachers at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 academic year, while the administrative staff’s services will be terminated by December 2025.
Sources confirmed that these decisions are part of a long-term government strategy aimed at localizing jobs and creating opportunities for national talent in the education sector, especially in specialties where sufficient local expertise now exists.
