Gulf Countries Impose Anti-Dumping Duties on Sanitary Ware from China and India

Fatima Al-Qallaf, Acting Director General of the General Administration of Customs, has issued instructions to impose final anti-dumping duties on sanitary ware products imported into Gulf countries from China and India. The duties apply to products such as washbasins, basin bases, bathtubs, toilet seats, water tanks, and other fixed sanitary items.

The decision follows the findings of an investigation that determined dumping margins ranging from 33.8 percent to 83.4 percent across 12 companies. These duties will be added to the existing customs duty tax and calculated based on the CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value of the imports.

The instructions specify that the duties will come into effect 37 days after the decision is published in the official bulletin of the Office of the Technical Secretariat for Combating Injurious Practices in International Trade. The anti-dumping measures will be in place for five years, beginning July 8, 2025.

Authorities confirmed that these final duties will be treated the same as standard customs duties. The move aims to protect local industries from unfair trade practices and restore competitive balance in the market.
