Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in partnership with EHang and Multi Level Group (MLG), has successfully conducted the UAE’s first public demonstration of a fully autonomous passenger electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in the capital.

Held with the support of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC) and regulatory oversight from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the event showcased EHang’s EH216-S, a two-seater, zero-emission, fully autonomous aerial vehicle designed for urban mobility, sightseeing, and short-distance travel.

Equipped with eight arms and 16 propellers powered by 32 electric motors, the aircraft ensures safe and quiet operations without the need for a runway.

His Excellency Badr Al Olama, Director-General at ADIO, highlighted that the demonstration reflects Abu Dhabi’s ambition to lead next-generation transport solutions and make urban air taxis part of everyday life.

Mohamed Salah, CEO of Advanced Mobility Hub under MLG, emphasized that this milestone strengthens Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s position as a global hub for autonomous aerial mobility and future transport innovation in the Middle East and Africa.

This landmark test flight underlines Abu Dhabi’s commitment to smart, sustainable cities and to supporting advanced technologies that will shape the future of transport globally.
