Kuwait City: The General Administration of Customs has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive quantity of banned tobacco through Shuwaikh Port.

The shipment, which arrived from an Asian country, was concealed in two 40-foot containers. Alert customs inspectors grew suspicious during routine checks and immediately took steps to investigate further. Samples were sent for detailed analysis, which confirmed the illicit cargo.

In total, officials discovered 581,000 bags of tobacco, weighing approximately 29.05 tons — a clear violation of import regulations.

Authorities have stressed that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible, reaffirming Kuwait Customs’ ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and protect public health by preventing banned products from entering the country.
