KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Interior has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive shipment of illegal Captagon pills into Kuwait. Acting through the Criminal Security Sector, officials seized 4 million pills cleverly concealed inside water treatment pipes. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of 12 million Kuwaiti dinars (approximately $39.3 million).

According to a statement by the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media, this significant bust was carried out under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. The operation was executed in cooperation with the General Administration of Customs and the Kuwait Fire Force.

Authorities revealed that the investigation began when the General Department of Narcotics Control received confidential information about an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of Captagon using an unusual method. Customs officials coordinated the safe exit of the suspicious shipment, tracked its route, and managed to identify and apprehend the people involved.

So far, one suspect has been arrested within Kuwait, while the main suspect is believed to be abroad. The Ministry said it is working closely with a foreign anti-narcotics agency to locate and detain the main suspect and pursue all legal measures.

The investigation revealed that the shipment was routed through an Arab country and a European country to disguise its final destination.

The Ministry praised the strong coordination among the security, customs, and fire force teams, stressing that Kuwait remains committed to intensifying its operations against drug traffickers and ensuring that anyone who attempts to endanger the nation’s safety will face strict action.
