Dubai witnessed an electrifying start to the UAE Muay Thai Youth Open Championship on August 15 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where 422 young fighters representing 49 clubs competed across three days of intense matches.
Organized by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, the tournament aims to elevate the sport locally and develop future champions, especially as the country gears up to host the prestigious IFMA Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi next month.
The opening ceremony welcomed Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE, and Ali Khoury, Board Member of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, underscoring the UAE’s growing role in promoting Muay Thai worldwide.
Day one featured 77 thrilling bouts across various weight divisions for athletes aged 10 to 17, overseen by 30 referees. With the finals set for August 17, the championship is a celebration of young talent and a testament to the UAE’s position as a regional hub for combat sports.
