Kuwait's Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has confirmed that the country remained unaffected by a submarine cable outage in the Red Sea that occurred on Saturday afternoon. The authority reported that a cut in one of GCX's Falcon cables affected three international circuits with a total capacity of 30 gigabytes, but technical teams successfully restored services through alternative routing by 8:00 PM the same day.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the CITC explained that its technical teams coordinated with Kuwait Station management to immediately address the disruption. The teams diverted traffic to alternate cables, ensuring continuous service without any impact on communications within Kuwait. The authority emphasized that all affected stations have been fully restored and normal operations have been maintained throughout the incident.
The swift response demonstrates Kuwait's robust telecommunications infrastructure and redundancy measures, which prevented any service interruption for users in the country despite the significant international cable damage. The CITC continues to monitor the situation to ensure ongoing stability of telecommunications services.
