Kuwait's Ministry of Health has launched its annual winter vaccination campaign for the tenth consecutive year, offering free influenza and pneumococcal vaccines at over 75 locations nationwide. Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad announced the initiative as part of the country's strategy to prevent seasonal diseases, particularly targeting viruses and bacteria that become active from September through May with peak activity between October and March.

The campaign specifically focuses on protecting vulnerable populations including children, elderly citizens, chronic disease patients, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals who face higher risks of complications from seasonal illnesses. The ministry has provided updated influenza vaccines alongside an improved pneumococcal vaccine that covers 20 bacterial strains and protects against serious conditions including pneumonia and meningitis.

During previous seasons, the ministry has distributed more than 2.5 million vaccine doses, demonstrating its commitment to public health protection. This year's campaign includes 15 additional vaccination sites to ensure broader coverage across all governorates, available through preventive health departments in primary healthcare centers and public hospitals.
