The Kuwait Municipality has issued an urgent call for its regulatory bodies to impose stricter financial penalties for public cleanliness violations. The municipality's official spokesperson, Mohammed Al-Sindan, stated that the current surge in waste being dumped in undesignated public areas necessitates the adoption of more deterrent fines that match the severity of the offenses.
This appeal comes in response to a noticeable increase in littering and other forms of inappropriate public behavior, which has placed an unsustainable burden on municipal sanitation workers. The volume of waste being improperly disposed of has surpassed the operational capacity of cleaning teams tasked with maintaining public spaces.
The municipality asserts that tightening penalties is a crucial and effective measure to combat this issue. By enforcing heftier fines, the authority aims to significantly reduce the dumping of waste in key public areas, including streets, squares, public parks, beaches, and markets, thereby preserving the urban environment.
