NEW WORK PERMIT FEES ON IMMIGRANT WORKERS TO BE IMPOSED IN A GULF COUNTRY

Muscat: A gulf country has decided toimpose new fees on immigrant workers. Oman has announced that it will imposenew work permit fees on non-Omani workers from June 1, 2021. This was announcedby the Ministry of Labour in the country.

The new work permit fees would apply toimmigrants who work in upper and intermediate occupations as well as technicaland specialized professions. It would also be in place for new work permits andnew businesses.

“To provide job opportunities for citizensin the private sector in the upper and intermediate occupations and thetechnical and specialized professions, with the framework. The Ministry ofLabour announces through the Ministerial Decision No. (2021/12) that the newfees for work permits for non-Omani workforces for upper and intermediateoccupations and technical and specialized professions, as well as for new workpermits and fees for new businesses, will be in force starting from June 1,2021,” read a statement from the Ministry.
