Oman Extends Labor Status Grace Period Until December 31, 2025

The Ministry of Labour in Oman has announced an extension of the grace period for rectifying labor status until December 31, 2025. This decision follows multiple requests from individuals, employers, and workers seeking more time to complete the necessary legal procedures. The Ministry stated that the aim of this extension is to give the maximum number of beneficiaries the opportunity to legalize their labor status.

Labeling it the "final and most extensive grace period," the Ministry emphasized the importance of resolving labor issues in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Relevant departments and institutions have been instructed to implement the decision in line with public interest.

With this extension, individuals and companies can take actions such as renewing expired labor cards, transferring worker services, or clearing existing obligations — all without incurring fines — until the end of 2025. After December 31, 2025, those who fail to comply may face legal and administrative consequences, the Ministry warned.

Additionally, the Royal Oman Police has waived penalties related to expired non-work visas, and those looking to leave the country or regularize their status can do so through official ministry channels or online platforms during the grace period.
