Kuwait City: Dr. Saad Al-Shabo, the head of the Union of Cooperative Societies, dismissed concerns about a shortage of goods from Russia or Ukraine in cooperative societies, saying, "We are closely following up on developments regarding the supply of goods and reports show the Ukrainian and Russian products sold in cooperative societies are limited and there are several alternatives available in case supplies are cut off."

According to Al-Shabo, Kuwait, specifically the cooperative societies, is distinguished for having large quantities of food stock and consumer goods available, in accordance with the recommendations of the Council of Ministers, reassuring that there are no fears of a product shortage, and if that occurs, there are plenty of alternatives available.

He added that the Union is carrying out its responsibilities to the fullest and has elevated the degree of preparedness to the highest level in anticipation of any emergency in the face of conflict between Ukraine and Russia spilling over into other countries and disrupting transport lines. "We are in frequent contact with the concerned authorities in the country, particularly the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Kuwait Flour Mills Company, to coordinate and follow up on developments," he said.
