Kuwait City: The Cabinet made a number of decisions to prepare for the parliamentary elections, scheduled for September 29, during its weekly meeting on Monday at Al-Saif Palace. The gathering, presided over by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, remembered the Sovereign Speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, in which he expressed a sincere desire to give the Kuwaiti people the final say on changing the country's political course. In a press release issued after the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Mohammad Abdullatif Al-Fares stated that the Sovereign Speech, delivered on behalf of His Highness the Amir by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on June 22, outlined a plan for achieving the aspirations of the people to elect their true representatives.

Acting on the Sovereign Speech, the instructions of His Highness the Prime Minister, and yesterday’s Cabinet Decree 147 (2022) on the parliamentary elections, the Cabinet decided to suspend work at all government bodies on Thursday, September 29, declaring it a day off. The Cabinet accepted the resignation of Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Urban Development, and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Issa Ahmad Al-Kanderi for his desire to stand for elections. It assigned Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Mohammad Abdullatif Al- Fares, as Acting Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs.
