Philippine Labor Minister to visit the country in mid-May

Kuwait City: A Filipino labor delegation headed by the Philippine Minister of Labor will visit the country between May 16 and 18, to discuss resending specialized workers to Kuwait after a temporary suspension since last February, due to the murder of a domestic worker in the Salmi desert. New procedures and mechanisms regarding the file of Filipino workers will also be discussed.

Informed source added that among the files up for discussion is the Philippines' desire to raise the monthly salary of a domestic worker to $400, in addition to adopting compulsory insurance for the worker and setting up a mechanism for resolving disputes.
