KUWAITI INTERIOR MINISTRY REPORTEDLY PREPARING TO SUSPEND INSPECTIONS AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

Kuwait City: According to local media reports, the lack of flights to Kuwait has prompted the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry to suspend action against violators of labor and residency laws.

The decision was based on the state of health in the country and the precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of the corona virus among prisoners, the newspaper quoted security sources as saying. Three days ago, various security forces were instructed to launch a campaign against residency violators and absconding workers.

In the last few days they have intensified inspections and arrested many of them, which has created a huge crowd in the deportation prison. This may lead to the spread of infectious diseases among the prisoners.

In addition, the lack of flights and the fact that airlines only accept very few people to deport on their flights has created an increasing crisis. This means that new offenders cannot be caught in already overcrowded facilities.

It is in this context that the new decision is reported. At the same time, there are indications that strong inspections will continue after these issues are resolved.
