Riyadh: Violators of Saudi Arabia's postal laws face fines. The Saudi Gazette reported, citing officials, that fines of up to 50 lakh riyals (9.9 crore Indian rupees) will be imposed on those who violate postal rules and regulations. Violators will be subject to other penalties in addition to fines.

Penalties include suspension of service to a company violating the law and revocation of the license for three years, in whole or in part, depending on the severity of the offense.

If the offense continues after the warning, the fine will be calculated on a daily basis from the violation. In case of recurrence of the offense within one year, the fine will be doubled.

Institutions operating postal and parcel transport services are required to ensure that the mail and parcels in their possession do not contain prohibited items or items affecting national security. If such items are found, the concerned officials should be informed.
