New Delhi: The corona epidemic has also affected human life expectancy, according to a study. According to a study by the International Institute of Population Studies (IIPS) in Mumbai, life expectancy at birth has been reduced by two years in India.

IIPS found that life expectancy was lower in men and women. Says Assistant Professor Suryakant Yadav. Life expectancy in 2019 was 72 years for women and 69.5 years for men. But by 2020, the study will be 69.8 years old for women and 67.5 years for men, according to the Times of India.

The term life expectancy at birth refers to the approximate number of years a baby will live if his or her mortality pattern remains unchanged at birth.

The study found that men were more likely to be affected by corona than men aged 35-69, with higher mortality rates leading to a decrease in life expectancy.

This conclusion was reached by analyzing data from the Global Burden of Disease Study in 145 countries and the Corona India Application Program Interface (API) portal data.

Suryakant Yadav says that corona has wiped out all the progress we have made in extending life expectancy in the last decade. At present, life expectancy at birth in the country is equivalent to 2010. He added that it would take years to recover.
