FAIZABAD RAILWAY STATION WILL HENCEFORTH BE KNOWN AS AYODHYA

Lucknow: The Faizabad railway station in Uttar Pradesh has been renamed. The railway station will henceforth be known as Ayodhya. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the announcement on Twitter.


Faizabad district was renamed Ayodhya three years ago. The district was renamed in 2018 during the Diwali festival. At that time, Allahabad district was renamed as Prayag Raj. The century-old Mughalsarai railway station was named after the then RSS teacher Deen Dayal Upadhyay.

After the BJP came to power in UP and at the Center, some Sangh Parivar organizations had demanded the renaming of several districts. Azamgarh needs to be renamed as Aryangad, Aligarh as Harigad and Agra as Agrawan.
